When you have Metro Doggies care for your pet, you have caring, careful, mature animal lovers- not someone just doing it for a buck. You won’t see someone walking your dog, caring for your cat who just treats it as a job. We see this as the best of all worlds – spending our days with the animals we love while getting great exercise.
Lucy grew up in cities, but spent the last 14 years living out in rural Virginia – in the southern part of the Shenandoah Valley. While there Lucy spent a good deal of her time working with the local SPCA’s including serving as president and a board member. She has lectured at regional and national animal welfare conference, worked on animal welfare legislation and issues, including some large scale dog and horse rescues. Lucy has had a number of dogs at any one time, (also horses and llamas, but that is another story). She has fostered dogs that did not do well in the shelter, were recovering from injuries or illnesses or were unlikely to get adopted because of their age. “I love the energy of young dogs who keep you on your toes, but also get incredible satisfaction caring for older dogs and cats. They have an amazing dignity and so much to offer.”
With Metro Doggies caring for your pets you will never have some transient employee working for minimum wage taking care of your pets. Lucy will either be providing the care personally or it will be an employee who is either personally known or has been carefully vetted (no pun intended) to be sure the level of care will be as if Lucy were providing the care herself.
“Whether for walks or for in home care, your pet will be treated as if it were my own.” – Lucy
